Into the Multiple Worlds of Michael Huffam.

The Creative Writing Blog of Michael R. Huffam

Hello, this blog is dedicated to my pieces of fiction that I write, which range from short stories to unpublished novels. The genres range from many forms, to romance and fantasy, to Science Fiction and Mystery. Just to clarify that most of the stories will be original fiction, but I might throw around fanfiction. Maybe when I get big enough, I might have a request section of what kind of fanfiction stories they want to see. Feel free to follow and want to see something more than photos and enjoy my worlds I have inside my head.

The Ring of Two: Part 2

This was a dull color of fuchsia smoke illuminated the area. As he walked through the smoke a building appeared in front of him. It was a shop, but a shop Mitchell has never seen before. The building was made out of a strange oak, it was pitch black and the texture was smooth as metal. He went over to the door, looked above and it showed two dragons, one white and one red, fighting each other vigorously. He clutched onto the knob, which was the head of a reptile, turned the knob and enter inside. As he enters a strange aroma set foot into his nostrils. A Sweet, relaxing, almost unreal. He wandered around the shop and saw strange and interesting objects. Shrunken heads, voodoo dolls, and animal parts in tiny jars. He continued to saunter around the shop until a gleam of light shone on the corner of his eye. He went to the area where the shining came from and saw a box of rings for sale. As He examined the rings, seeing them all different, mystical almost each one that would make you think it’s a ring that came from the middle ages.

But a certain glow caught Mitchell’s attention in the jewelry box. The glow came from a ring, a ring with a blood red colored stone, smooth a glass. Next to it was a frost blue ring, also as smooth as the other ring.

Henry Carter and The Observer Part 2

Henry was a little cautious at following the man into the alleyway, but if he was talking about what Henry thought he was, he felt taking the risk. He followed the man in the alleyway, walking in a fast pace to catch up with the man. He caught up with him, and slowed down to see where he was. The alley was much longer than Henry expected it would be, for the fact of the two buildings weren’t that big. What caught Henry by surprise was the lights in the Alley were turning on when they approached them.

They probably have motion sensors, he thought.  The Observer stopped, right in front of a wooden door, with markings on it that looked like it was from the Victorian era. The Observer tapped on the door with his cane, twice on top and twice on the bottom. The door opened, and the Observer stepped aside and said, “After you my dear boy.”

Henry nodded to thank him and entered through the door. Inside was a light gray room being illuminated by an unknown light, with two doors at the end of the room, with a chair in the middle.

The Other World: Part 1: Chapter 1

Chapter 1: A Day in the Life

14 years ago, Mystic, Connecticut…

Night time. The time where the sun is gone and darkness covers the land. Many people believed for many years that hellish creatures come out and terrorize the land. Today, that is some what true. Night is the time for criminals come out and do their devilish deeds. When they see an innocent person in the road, they will take advantage of that person and steal from them. Many people have a natural fear of the darkness of night.

The boy inside his room in a house of Mystic is a perfect example. Every night he would go to his room to sleep, but would never fall asleep, fearing a monster would attack and eat him. Every little creak and click he would flinch. His everyday objects would look like terrifying creatures because of their shadows. The boy heard a strange bump and he clinched his blankets, eyes beginning to water.

“MOMMY! DADDY!” He screamed over and over, tears pouring out of his eyes. The door opened swiftly, with a beautiful young woman racing to the boy’s bed. She put the boy in her arms, stroking his head, telling him to hush with her soft voice.

“What’s wrong, my dear? Did something scare you?” she asked her voice smooth as silk.

“The monster is going to get me! He wants to eat me!” said the boy, choking on his tears.

A man walked into the room and turned on the lights. The so called monster the boy was pointing at was actually his dresser. The man went over to the boy’s bed, kneels down to the boy’s eyesight, and said in a harsh voice “There’s no reason to be afraid of things that isn’t there. There’s no such thing as monsters. Nothing will hurt you in this house. Remember that Devin Knight. Nothing will hurt you… ever.”

Henry Carter and The Observer

It was fifteen past 6, which made Sandra a half-hour late to see Henry at the Aroma Café. It was late afternoon and the sun was fading down in the trees, where barely any light was coming through. Henry was checking his phone since a minute ago, and no messages from Sandra of being late.

Henry and Sandra have been dating since they were in the midst of college, and hit it off since their first full conversation they had. Their first date, first kiss, and the first time they said “I love you” was the greatest moments he has had in a long time. He took something out of his jacket breast pocket, a small black box. He opened it, and what was revealed was a diamond ring, shining an orange ray with little of the sunlight left shining on it. He talked to his father about this decision and he told Henry “The Only way you know is when you’re ready is when you want to be totally selfless, never thinking about yourself but of her”

Henry always had thought of her, in every way possible.

He slightly put his head up, and saw Sandra walking through inside the door. Frantic, he quickly closed the box and put it back in his breast pocket. He signaled her and Sandra saw it, where her eyes lifted from some kind of trance. He began to walk over to her. He kissed and hugged her, then looked into her eyes, and something didn’t see right when he looked into them. They were not the same bright glow he used to see everyday. He raised his eyebrow. “Is something the matter Sandra?”

Just then Henry could feel Sandra’s spirits dropped down. Her arms felt weak, and he could sense something was wrong. “I need to tell you something Henry…”
